Hayle Rowing and Pilot Gig Club was founded in 1976. It now has over 100 members, of a range of ages and abilities.

Yesterday a group of our rowers represented HPGC a Yesterday a group of our rowers represented HPGC as the Towan Titans and battled through the @kernowkiller, a 10k extreme assault course. Jeering each other on, showing grit and determination they took the final slide to the finish together, one and all. Go Titans!

This year Hayle pilot gig club are proud to announ This year Hayle pilot gig club are proud to announce that we have two of our rowes, Penil Hill and Isaac Rogers, participating in the Cornish Barbarians - 50 VOR 50 Ten Gigs, Sixty three rowers, seven coxswains. One day to make a difference. Dubbed, 50 VOR 50, on Saturday 9th August 2025, ten gigs containing sixty three elite rowers and seven coxswains from around the country will become the ‘Cornish Barbarians’ and take on the extraordinary challenge of rowing 50km along the Cornish coastline, from Truro to Pentewen. A yearly charity event, kindly facilitated by the incredible @cornishbarbarians. This year, we are incredibly honoured to announce that they will be rowing to support The Noah Jordan Foundation . Another successful year for the U14's Championship Another successful year for the U14's Championship! Thanks you to all the clubs who brought a crew this year and all the supporters who came along to ceaselessly cheer all day. Congratulations to this year's champions, St Mary's A crew and to the runners up, Swanage, Mounts Bay A and Helford. Racing this year was tough with multiple heats ending up with photo finishes. It's a real joy to see the competitive spirit and sportsmanship from these young rowers. Thank you to our extremely generous sponsors Toms Holidays and Eagle Pant 🦅 and to the CPGA who made it possible for us to put on such a excellent event. With the addition of craft stalls our event is growing and we have been thrilled by the positive feedback from everyone. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in the organisation and helped out on the day. From sending out invites to selling raffle tickets from manning the refreshments to water rats. Hayle Pilot Gig Club continues to building its Jun Hayle Pilot Gig Club continues to building its Junior squad, and we’re inviting 10–16‑year‑olds to come and try Cornish pilot‑gig rowing. Session. • Saturday 24 May 2025 – 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm You can stay for the full session or drop in for part of it—just make sure the consent form is completed. Where Meet on the beach beside North Quay slipway, Hayle Harbour (TR27 4DD), next to Gilbert's for sign‑in and a short safety briefing. What to bring • Shoes that you don't mind getting wet • Warm, flexible layers (you’ll heat up when rowing) • Water Life‑jackets provided; sessions follow CPGA and British Rowing safety rules and are led by qualified coxes. The World Pilot Gig Championship went by in a whir The World Pilot Gig Championship went by in a whirlwind! Fierce racing and even fiercer conditions to contend with. This year, we took both of our beautiful wooden gig boats, Azook and Arveth. Allowing us to take eight full crews with our friends from the Avon Corinthians, representing us in two categories. Overall, an exceptional performance from all crews and an absolutely brilliant event for the club. Huge thanks to our club Captain for the brilliant highlights reel, as always.

It's with sadness that we learned of one of our li It's with sadness that we learned of one of our life members passing this week. Local business man Mr John Daniels was a major contributor to our club in helping buy in 1993 one of our racing Gigs, Isis (named for the last lifeboat of Hayle). Although Isis was sold in 2014 her legacy has lived on with Langstone Cutters and Newhaven gig clubs. Our thoughts go out to his family at this time.
