So, the weekend is closing in. Sunday 10th August should see 26 crews from all over the South West, travelling down to Copperhouse Pool in Hayle to compete for the title of U14’s champions. Thank you to those clubs who are offering loan boats – without you the event could not happen, and in light of this we are pleased to offer free food and drinks for the drivers as a token of appreciation!
Directions to the FREE carparking will be provided – please just follow the signs!
The nearest postcode is TR27 4BL.
Towers – there will be HPGC members on hand to look after your boat whilst launching. Trailers will be detached and hand-pushed to be stored close by – minimal reversing skills needed! As mentioned, a burger and a drink will be available as a token of appreciation to the towers.
Coxes meeting at 9 am sharp! Boats can arrive as early as you wish – we’ll be on site from 6 am.
WEATHER – There are concerns regarding the weather, namely a hurricane currently making its way across the Atlantic. It goes without saying we will be monitoring the situation closely and communicate any decision as promptly as possible. Any cancellations will be communicated at the latest at SATURDAY NOON. Unlike other events, we are not affected by tide, nor by wind affecting launching conditions – indeed it’s the safest event in the gig rowing calendar. What could affect the event is very strong westerly winds which will make it hard for the juniors to row against, similarly with hard, driving rain – spoiling their day and possibly affecting the fairness of results – in which case we would strive to reschedule in the interests of the juniors.
For up-to-date info, please keep an eye on Emails, Facebook, Twitter, or here on the website. Any questions, please fire away!
We hope to see you on Sunday,
Regards, HPGC Committee
