We are now well into the Gig Rowing calendar (see here!) and the club is bouncing from event to event with previously unseen enthusiasm. From Falmouth to Mevagissy, Zennor to St Ives, we’ve been busy since Scillies racking up some results on the scoreboards. Notably the Ladies B and Mens A at Falmouth, coming 9th and 6th respectively. Tribute weekend at Mevagissy saw the men again dominate one of their races, coming in 1st over the line. Many beers were sank that night!
We have a batch of keen novices who are quickly becoming integrated with the rest of the club, and in just a few weeks have started to get a feel for racing. Fancy a try? Contact any of the captains for details on the weekly novice sessions.
Upcoming is the Hayle in Bloom event, traditionally a big day for us, its great to support the town, and is also great PR for the club – the town can see who we are, what we do, and how we do it! In the past few years we have gained new members from the town on this day, so naturally it has become an important event for us.
In the pipeline too is the annual U14’s Pilot Gig Championships, also held on Copperhouse Pool – this year held on Sunday 10th August. This is the premiere junior event of the season, and crews from all over the county – and beyond – travel down to be part of the smoothly-ran event.
Anything else, we’ll keep you updated!
